Skating system calculator

Enter each judge's ranking of the finalists. The calculator works the placings using the standard majority rules, the same maths MyDanceComp runs on finals day.

Some placings needed tiebreaks. In MyDanceComp the full working, including every majority count and tiebreak, is shown to the scrutineer and can be published with the results.

How the skating system decides placings

  • First place goes to the finalist with a majority of first-place ordinals.
  • If nobody has a majority of firsts, the system looks at first-and-second ordinals, and so on.
  • Tied majorities are broken by the size of the majority, then the sum of the counting ordinals.
  • Still tied? The placing is shared. It happens, and it is fair.

Judges rank finalists on their phones. The skating grid, the majorities and the tiebreaks are worked instantly, checked by a second person, and published with the working shown.
